I"ve been an iron sight guy all my life and have never fired a weapon with a red dot or reflex sight. Now, while I expect to do my research on sight options in general, I thought I'd ask about this specific handgun in case options are limited and I can avoid looking at a lot of stuff that doesn't apply.
My understanding is that the Witness Hunter is drilled and tapped for a C More mount, but why this mount would be unique in this regard I don't know. I won't be hunting ever with this gun, but may want to do some challenging longer-range target and plinking. What are good options, what are the products, what do you recommend? Am I better off with a conventional scope if there won't be any 'action' involved stationary target, stationary shooter. I inquired about doing a slide and he said I could send it in Mark Housel's response was "No Chips No Charge" in other words if they can cut the slide then no charge.
I haven't decided if I want to go that route yet. Best regards. Check out henningshootguns.
He has different mounts for the Hunter in various styles and prices. Be sure to use something to keep the screws tight Loctite, etc. I used some clear fingernail polish. One thing that I did not like about the EAA mount is its use of regular allen head hex screws. They sould be Torx. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Awesome setup and a special shout out to Beven for getting this done for me even though he was very busy. If you guys have any questions Beven will be watching this thread also. PS- It's hard to get a good pic of the dot, but it's actually a crisp red triangle.
I just want to ask on how and what did you use on the palm swell grip on the left side. The delta point sitting that low in the slide looks really nice. I bet that would be a really nice transition from irons to something like that.
Can you tell me how much it was to get the slide milled like that? It is epoxy putty, just has some rustoleum textured paint over it. He doesn't do any 'Witness-specific' work, this was just a barrel recrowing job a kick-ass one! I wanted it done right, so I sent it to Chuck. My original crown had substantial runout so yes, not just for looks, accuracy improvement at distance.
I too think it looks awesome. The Deltapoint sight mounted by Beven into the slide is an awesome setup guys! I have never shot better, both using the tip of the triangle for accuracy shots AND sticking the whole triangle into the A-Zone and firing away. I was worried I might lose the triangle in recoil since my gun isn't compensated, but with my handloads I never lost it in the window. However, for competition there's no need to use the tip at those distances.
I think the tip of the triangle is supposed to be dead on at 50yds so my results make sense. The sight is super lightweight and the triangle is very crisp and bright red. In super sunny conditions it will wash out a bit, but I imagine that happens with all red dot sights. Give Beven a call if you want it done right. Sneed Jr. Member Posts: Hello to all. I'm looking to put a red dot, Leupold Deltapoint or something comparable, on a full sized Witness P. Any suggestions appreciated. No matter how cynical you become, it is never enough to keep up. Lily Tomlin. Intercooler Moderator Sharpshooter Posts: 10mm, when you care enough to send only the best!! DM Senior Member Posts: Dovetail mount optics are crap, generally. It's better than nothing, but it places the optic so far off the bore axis, it's worth nothing more than a testing process.
It has NO use in practicality. I use them, but only for platform testing. Life's tough. It's tougher if you're stupid. I've switched to mounting a holographic sight on a P Leupold makes a dovetail mount for it but your comment certainly is concerning as the pistol would not be for competition but for everyday carry. Do your comments apply to the Leupold mount as well?
There are no gunsmiths near where I live but I could certainly get the gun to one to drill and tap if that was the best option. Is there really a difference with Dawson Precision sights? You bet there is!
While other sights give off a hazy glow making it difficult to focus, DP sights offer you the sharpest picture. We counterbore the blade so the optic is recessed.
This subtle difference focuses the light in the sight making it not only brighter, but clearer. A fully cradled optic provides a longer optic lifespan. Don't Forget The Loctite. This is much brighter and easier to see than the OEM fiber optic that came with my Limited pistol. Installed easy with tool and instructions. Customer assistance technician helped with selection and installation instructions. Very happy with this sight. Have on my Glock 17 also and happy with it too.
Your sights are the best. This last sight had a disc to place underneath the set screw. The sight fell off while shooting.
I pined it it place. I did notice the finish appeared to be a little thick. Putting the fiber optic through was difficult. Other these small issues the sight is fine. Thank you Joseph Hart. Fit and fitment were perfect.
Fiber optic is super bright in daylight, worked great at night also. Perfect fit and is a great contrast to the rear sight. The sight fit perfect on my Tangfolio Witneess P Match, a very slight interference where U tapped it on.
